This makes a rather heavy bread. A little less liquid and a 400 F oven, for 15-20 minutes, might make it lighter.
Add any flavoring you like: 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp maple flavoring,. Or cut the sugar to 1/4 c and make a savory bread, adding 1-2 T of one or a mix of Italian seasonings or rosemary or sage.
The recipe calculation is for the larger amount of sugar. Top the coffee cake with something, or leave it plain.

This is an old recipe converted to gluten free. Definitely to be used as a treat! I have to be careful all day if I want 1/12th of this for dessert. Nice reward!
I prepared these biscuits per package instructions, using margarine and skim milk.
This is my favorite veggie topping collection that I add to my gluten-free pizza crust.
Once again, this is not a "diet recipe", but -- personally -- I'd rather have smaller portions of good food. The original recipe came from "The Secret Life of Comfort Food," however, I did make some adjustments: I substituted ground turkey for pork, used fresh tomatoes instead of canned, and chose not to cover the whole thing with an entire package of bacon! This recipe also calls for a mushroom gravy, and I hope I can have just a little gravy in lieu of bacon. We'll see!
This is the basis for making an old family favorite from my Sicilian side. You have to add Spaghetti Sauce to complete the meal, which is a separate recipe. I have a recipe for a simple gluten- and corn-free spaghetti sauce here as well.
I substituted Bragg Liquid Aminos for Worcestershire Sauce to accomodate Celiacs like myself.
