1/2 pkg (3.5 oz) turkey smoked sausage, sliced into 1/4" half moons
2 slices bacon
4 medium potatoes, diced
1 qt low sodium chicken broth
2 cloves minced garlic
2 c kale, washed, dried and shredded
1/4 t fresh pepper
1/2 c 2% milk
Great middle eastern twist on crockpot chili for a cool night, especially with pita bread!
This recipe came about after I started a pot of soup before I checked the pantry. When finished my daughter said "hey this tastes like tamale pie" thus the name.
The nutrition facts state high sodium, but I rinsed the kraut and beans to help bring this down.
I garnished this with a couple of Abraham's Guiltless Onion Rings (recipe on SparkRecipes) for a nice crunch.
