Since childhood I've loved the simplicity of Marathi food---specially eating "Varan Bhaat" or "Khichadi" with dollops of "Ghee" as Clarified Butter is called and any type of spicy Green Chilli Pickle as well as roasted Papadoms.Not just that, I'm also addicted to eating sweet Semolina or Wheat "Saanzaa/Sheera/Halvaa" or the sweet "Saanzoree" a sweet Paratha stuffed with "Saanzaa" with this spicy Green Chilli pickle---adds a marvellous zing and tempers the sweetness too!!This is a very spicy and tangy Green Chilli Pickle which I make in small quantities as Green Chillies are available all the year round.I prefer to keep this in the Refridgerator as it lasts longer that way.The Mustard adds a sharpness to this as it hits the nasal passages with a whoosh---just simply wonderful!!!
This is one of my family's very favorite dinners. One of the best things about this recipe is how easy it is to adjust to your own tastes. I entered it in with my true ingredients, which are SPICY! If you don't like it super spicy, adjust your ratio of Sweet Thai chili sauce (found in the grocery store asian food section) and the spicy Sambal Oelek (found in the same section). Try 1/4 cup of sambal oelek and 3/4 cup sweet chili sauce. Also very good with skinless chicken thighs, trimmed. I just ordered PB2 and am looking forward to trying it with this recipe, to cut the fat back even further!Submitted by MISSRED1970
