I love Subway's Veggie Delight, but sometimes I want a more meaty sandwich, sans the meat. I used to love Philly Cheese Steaks before going veg, and thought a thinly sliced portabella would substitute nicely. It did not disappoint!
Also, the nutritional information includes the marinade, most of which is drained off prior to cooking, so the sodium level is probably much lower.Submitted by GROOVY-FLOR
This is my absolute favorite dish from Ruby Tuesday so I had to find a way to make it over. Its called the smokehouse chicken and it is a favorite by many! This delicious dish is high in fat and calories if ordered from the restaurant so I came up with a healthier, guilt free version that has become a favorite in my household! Submitted by SARAHLYNN1285
This recipe is to replace the green beans you get at most/all Chinese Buffets including Panda Express and many others. They are a hit with everyone, every time I make them... even my picky picky picky people that I have to feed!
[EDIT: After noticing everyone commenting on the sodium, I realized that I didn't add the 'lite' soy sauce that I use - I had added regular! Fixed it now :) ]Submitted by KRAVMAGAGIRL
I love Chili's Southwestern Eggrolls. They have so much tasty stuff in them, but I hate the fact they are deep fried. I added more beans and corn and then put them in the broiler for crunch.
These are great made ahead of time and *frozen for a quick meal or a fun snack for the big game. I make a double batch so I can freeze some for later.Submitted by RONDARC
Y-U-M-M-Y........one of my favorites at PF Chang's....the Soothing Chicken Lettuce Wraps!!! I've made them here with extra lean turkey, but you could easily substitute ground chicken or tofu for the turkey and add any vegetables of your choice. This recipe will leave you saying...."PF who???"Submitted by MRSDUDLEY
I used to love grabbing smoothies, until I stumbled across the nutrition facts! I was really in shock when I looked up the nutritional information for my favorite smoothie, the jamba juice banana berry smoothie. The smoothie can contain up to 560 calories, and GET THIS, 115g of sugar. You think you are doing something good for your body, instead you are overloading it with tons of added sugar and other hidden culprits like frozen yogurt and sherbet! While the froyo and sherbet they add are fat free, they are desserts in themselves, and not something I want in mid day pick me up.
I came up with a smoothie that is just as creamy, thick and sweet as jambas smoothies, without all the added calories, sugar, and frozen desserts.

This is a makeover of Cracker Barrel's Chicken & Dumplings. My aunt had created the original recipe which called for 1.75 lb chicken and whole milk. It was always one of my families favorite dinners that I made once in a while on special Sundays. Recently, I decided to try a healthier version of it with lower calories, cholesterol & sodium to see if it would pass the "family test". It did! They couldn't tell the difference. The healthy version of this recipe went down 76 calories, 31mg cholosterol & 1104 mg of sodium per serving.
On a side note, I know some people who use prepackaged biscuit dough to make their dumplings to make it easier but I don't like the taste of the perservatives because it makes the whole recipe taste like it came out of can. There is nothing like homemade!

I bought a Papa Murphy Mediterrean Pizza and decided to make it myself with less fat and calories! We LOVE pizza and become very fond of the Alfredo kind, it is the BEST! It makes eating spinach a wonderful treat!Submitted by KHDOESMK
Red, Hot and Blue serves a dish called Idaho Pig, with Pulled Pork for a total of 1022.61 calories per serving and that is without vegetables. Due to my allergies, it is one of the few meals that I can eat out and that is almost a full day's worth of calories for me. So I am remaking that recipe to a healthier portion size and with some healthier options. It is a great way to use the left over Thanksgiving turkey.Submitted by LAWOLF2
I remade Chili's Boneless Buffalo Chicken Salad because I really like chicken salads and I like hot wings. This recipe cuts the original's calories by about half. Most of the savings comes in baking the chicken in panko instead of frying the chicken in a batter.
I have a soft spot for chipotle, but their tacos are SO high in calories. 3 will cost you up to 900 calories and 47 grams of fat.
This recipe provides all the flavor of a chiptole taco, but with less calories and less fat! Submitted by APHIAD
This is one of my favorite dishes to make and I have enjoyed making it even healthier by substituting some ingredients for flavor packed healthier ones.Submitted by BLONDEGIRL
Pizza is one of my favorite foods, and the sweet sauce at Papa John's is my all-time favorite. My viewpoint is, if you're going to make it at home, don't make it "just as good," make it better! So I'm remaking a medium Papa John's pie with pineapple, onion and bacon(BACON!!!). Fresh homemade sauce and premium ingredients make this recipe more than worth the calories, and still trimmer than the fast food original!Submitted by KRAMTHEGRAM
I'm making over Burger Kings Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissanwich which contains 460 calories, 31g fat, 215mg cholesterol and 1000mg sodium. This make over will help manage your calories (300), fat(10g), sodium (845mg) and also your cholesterol (20mg). Now that's Healthy!!!

I'm really proud of myself for this one. I used to love getting Mexican Pizzas at Taco Bell. I haven't had one in years. So, I spent a few days concocting this recipe.
Tempeh is a fermented soybean cake, originating from Indonesia. You can find it at your health food store, if you can't find it at your regular grocery store. We aren't vegetarians, but sometimes it's nice to have a vegetarian meal. Helps save on the calories. Tempeh is a great meat substitute. If you chop it up right, it can have a similar consistency to ground meat.
Also, I'm pretty sure the tortillas Taco Bell uses for this are deep fried to make them crispy. I baked mine.Submitted by PISCESWOMAN87
