I like the challenge of my husband saying we have nothing to eat, and then proving him wrong with something healthy and delicious. When he says we don't have food in the house, I know we have at least 4 weeks without having to repeat a meal. These are recipes I've invented to prove him wrong.

A traditional pea grown in the south are cream peas, not creamed green peas, but real honest to goodness cream peas. This is my grandmother's recipe and she told me it was her grandmother's recipe.
If you can't find fresh cream peas, you can substitute purple hull, black eyed peas or any other southern vine pea. Cream peas tend to be the softest when cooked and are my favorite over the others I've mentioned. But purple hulls are a darn tootin good pea too.
The fresher your peas the less time it will take to cook. It typically takes me an hour to an hour and a half to cook them.Submitted by KAYAKBABE
I love fall. I love cold crispy weather. And, I love pumpkin. But I’m not too crazy about sweet pumpkin dishes or even about sweet “sweet” potato dishes either. So I decided to make a savory pumpkin recipe. A couple of nights ago, my family pitched in together to make chili on a cold frosty Nebraska night. Tonight it is a cold chilly Texas night and chili seemed to be on order too.
