Recipes for Wine Lovers

If you are like me, a healthy diet often includes a glass of wine with dinner. Of course, as we all know, wine is not calorie free! I'm starting a collection of yummy recipes that keep dinner AND 1 glass of wine under 500 calories. CIAO!

Quick & easy, and 457 calories per serving, including the wine! The Tilapia (fish) is optional, as the beans provide protein. If you choose NOT to cook the fish, subtract 81 calories. If you don't have peppers and onion, throw in zuchini/mushrooms/carrot.. .whatever is in your fridge. A good use-up-what's-in-your-fridge dish!Submitted by SCOOBY81
Sometimes you know you are going to drink 2 glasses of wine, and that is OK! Knowing this, stop off at the deli and get two slices of turkey breast (be careful, they vary greatly in nutritional value!!) At home you should already have the staples of: frozen edamame (buy individually wrapped, boxes at Costco and always keep these your freezer), Couscous, balsamic vinegar, salt. As well, since this suggested recipe is only 412 calories (INCLUDING the 2 glasses of wine!), add in another 80 calories of your favourite veggies to the couscous if you want to pump the couscous up a little bit. OR, skip the veggies and throw in 80 calories of chocolate at the end of your meal, and go to bed happy full of wine and chocolate, knowing you did not blow your calorie intake of 500 calories for the evening!Submitted by SCOOBY81
Its a leftover from my university days, but I still crave popcorn and wine for dinner on occasion. In this case, we will go straight to the worst case scenario...a regular movie popcorn with butter and a glass of wine. (I must be realistic!) This is one of those days where you eat pretty much all your non-calorie foods for breakfast and lunch, skip dinner and enjoy your night out! Not healthy, for sure...but lets be realistic, and at least know what you are getting in to.Submitted by SCOOBY81
