These are so moist and chocolatey I can't believe they are so healthy. They are a very filling and a great low carb treat.
I buy pre-ground flax meal, but you can grind your own.
I grind my almonds in a blender by putting only a small handful in at a time and pulsing the blender. Don't run continuously or you'll have almond butter. You can also buy pre-ground almonds.Submitted by JOEKNEE
These low carb Pancakes are soooo good. They have a nutty flavor and are very satisfying. They are also SBD phase 1 friendly. (Flaxseed counts as daily nut allowence)
Try rolling up turkey sausages with the pancakes and drizzle with sugarfree syrup.
Take a table spoon or two of lowfat creamcheese and mix with splenda and vanilla and warm in microwave for a "frosting" to spread on topSubmitted by ALWAYSWAITINGXX
Sometimes, a primal/ LC-loving gal is desperate for an ooey gooey grilled cheese or quesadilla. Make yourself a homemade tortilla, stuff it with avocados, chicken, or whatever else you desire, and consider your cravings squelched!!Submitted by BTVMADS
"I call this "focaccia" because it is baked in that style -- flat on a sheet pan, and then cut up into whatever sized pieces you want. It works for toast, sandwiches, and other bready uses. It is "rough" in texture like heavy whole grain breads. Since it isn't made with wheat, it doesn't have the same kind of grain as wheat breads, but the carb in flax is almost all fiber. Flax is very useful on a low carb diet, as well as being amazingly good for you." This was found Here http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/breads/r/flaxbasicfoc.htm

I've adapted this recipe from Bear Medicine Herbals. So far it's the best tasting wheat free flax bread recipe that I've tried. Since there's no gluten to speak of, the dough will be more like a cake batter consistency, but it bakes up to be a nice, if soft bread.
