This is set up for dried beans. To use canned beans use 3.5 cups of kidney beans and 3.5 cups garbanzo beans.
I only need to feed me and my husband, so I end up with days worth of left overs. My favorite thing to do with the left overs is to put them in an ovenproof dish and directly cover with cornbread dough, then bake according to the box.Submitted by TINCHERMR
I have combined a few recipes I like, trying to find a vegan breakfast muffin. This one turned out to be too high in calories - but it does make a pretty big muffin. Very yummy & filling.Submitted by LKHENDRICKSON
If you want a pretty health-conscious snack or side dish, pair with multigrain tortilla chips. Remember, you control how spicy it gets. Use no spicy chili peppers or get it as hot at as you want. I find serranos to cater my taste, but jalapenos, green or red chiles, or anything fresh will do!Submitted by TIGERINTHAVILLE
Check out the stats on this one!!! This is probably one of my favorite things to eat, ever, but especially in the summer! It's very cold, very fast, VERY HEALTHY, and just so very yummy. A colorful side dish to bring to a barbecue!
BTW. The American Heart Association says:
Omega-6 (n-6 polyunsaturated) fatty acids are the other group of essential fats that your body needs to function properly but does not make. Hence, they need to be consumed in the diet. Food sources of omega-6 fatty acids include some vegetable oils (SOYBEAN, safflower, sunflower or corn oils), nuts and seeds. Increased consumption of omega-6 fatty acids in place of saturated fats and trans fats is associated with a decreased risk of coronary heart disease.
Guess what! This includes just about all of the fat in this recipe!Submitted by ODYJAY
