Tasty, low calorie, even has some fiber. If using gluten free oat and sauces, it is gluten free. Can replace ground turkey with soaked textured vegetable protein to make a vegan loaf. Spices and sauces are easily modified to your own taste.
Fast and easy with a food processor. Raisins can be used instead of dried cranberries. Fat and calorie contents can be easily lowered by using a different mayonnaise. Great to take to picnics and cookouts.
Easy to make and quick to serve. Rice or other grains separate. Put the rice in the bowls and add the gumbo on top. Also great with cornbread instead of grains. Or alone as just a soup.
Fast, easy (especially when made in microwave), tasty. Can be made vegan by replacing turkey slices with vegan alternative or cutting them out altogether.
Fast and easy cobbler. Brown sugar gives a little richer taste. Other fruit can be used instead of peaches. Leave out salt if desired. Very flexible basic recipe.
Sounds a little complicated to assemble, but is really just a couple of measure ingredients and stir and dump. I use the same bowl for the batter and filling.
Dairy free if cornbread made without milk. Can add 1/2 cup green peppers, mexican peppers, or mushrooms for a different taste.
Adding textured vegetable protein to a low fat ground turkey chili increases the nutrition values and doesn't seem to affect the flavor. It also lowers the cost of making a big pot of chili.
Easy and fast to make. Store in fridge overnight to get best marrying of flavors. Great over chicken. Nice kick on toast. All ingredients subject to adjusting for personal taste.
Kind of like a Mexican lasagna, but different.
This can be made healthier in several ways such as using chicken breasts instead of dark meat or salt free tomatoes and leave out the capers. This was my Mom's basic recipe except she used a skinned whole chicken instead of only the dark meat pieces. Almost everything is subject to changing quantities to the cook's preferences and it still tastes good.
This recipe creates its own thin crust and can easily be made vegan.
