This beef stroganoff is a generalization of Julia Childs from her french cooking cook books. So you can also look that recipe up for more detailed instructions.
Add salt and pepper to taste when cooking both the onions and mushrooms as well as the beef. I also added 1 Tbsp of paprika which is very traditional for a more Hungarian version of the dish.
