Fast and tasty dessert -- the coconut oil adds a special touch
The goodness of quiche without the fattening crust! This is a favourite for any meal at my house.
Flavourful but low calorie -- only 35 cal per tbsp! This is especially good on a salad with goat cheese.
These delicious cupcakes are low in calories and bright pink! Perfect for a Valentine's Day bake sale.
A fun alternative for Christmas baking, and surprising low in calories!
Just a basic, whole wheat muffin. Great to have with soup, or you can jazz it up by adding in chopped fruit, nuts, cheese, or spices.
Great for breakfast or lunch on the go! They freeze incredibly well and stay fresh unlike a lot of biscuit recipes. Make a bunch in advance and take them out of the freezer in the morning.
This egg dish is quick to prepare, hard to mess up, low in calories, and delicious! Somewhere between an omelette and a quiche, it's great for breakfast, brunch, and supper.
Quick and easy healthy main dish! Great over rice or noodles, or just on its own.
Closer to a scone than a bun, these are lovely with tea
A quick and easy side dish with a bit of spice.
This chicken recipe uses just a little bit of "naughty" ingredients like butter to make an entree that's very easy to cook and tastes much more decadent than it actually is! That might seem like a lot of garlic, but it mellows a lot in the pan. It's true chicken thighs are a bit higher in fat than chicken breasts, so feel free to substitute. However, chicken thighs are a more economical choice (about half the price of breasts where I'm from), and what they lose in calorie content they make up for in taste and vitamin content.
A delicious lemon-scented cake for afternoon tea.
Very filling, very tasty! It freezes well and is great for quick meals.
A meal in a bowl! This is a great lunch or supper on hot days, and it fills you right up for less than 300 calories. For suppers on the go, you can freeze the chicken strips in advance and just heat them up in the microwave. Low in sodium, high in protein.
Mediterranean dip -- There are a few recipes for it on Spark, but this one's mine. Using yogurt allows you to cut down on the amount of oil and tahini used without sacrificing creaminess or taste, so it's lower cal and lower fat than a lot of versions.
It freezes incredibly well -- I divide it up into baggies and take them out in the morning for lunch.
Very easy cake free of butter, milk, and eggs! Make sure your sugar is vegan, too, if you're making it for a strict vegan. Refined cane sugar isn't!
A decadent, occasional treat
Great for breakfast or lunch on the go! They freeze incredibly well and stay fresh unlike a lot of biscuit recipes. Make a bunch in advance and take them out of the freezer in the morning. You can substitute any kind of pizza topping you like.
For lunches on the go!
This very easy recipe works either as a curry over rice or as a great alternative to hummus. Serve hot or cold with fresh vegetables, naan, pita, or baked tortilla chips. It's a good way to get enough fibre into your diet!
A fast, easy, and unusual dessert that tastes much more decadent than it is! Great for picnics and easy to prepare ahead of time.
A warm and filling curry that's easy to make and freezes well. Traditionally, it's made with ground lamb, but using extra lean ground beef cuts the calories by a third. Best served with rice, but great on its own, too!
