This is a HUGE recipe and can (maybe should) be cut down by half for most people....I seasoned with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and allspice, I suspect any baking spice would be pretty awesome :-)
All of the measurements are approximate, and I bet just about any grain/nut/fruit combo would be awesome.

ndt-cake-with-chocolate-ganache-recipe/ I opted to make it a little healthier by replacing most of the butter, eggs, sugar and flour with lower calorie and fat alternatives. I used mostly w/w flour instead of white and I also halved the recipe and made it in a loaf pan - because a bundt cake is HUGE and not what I needed. Obviously it will double easily and can be garnished as suggested in the original with chocolate ganache.
The entire world thinks that brown bread is supposed to be steamed. Well not where I come from… the Maritimes. The steamed variety is called Boston Brown Bread.
Brown Bread is the love interest of Molasses Baked Beans. They are inseparable in many people's minds – mine included. Brown Bread is wonderful while still warm from the oven, and it also toasts extremely well.
