a low GI dessert
Yummy pastry for baked samosas. Can be stuffed with a vegetable mixture or made into pastry bases. I like baking it separately in order to cut serving size if I'm having a low energy day.
First time trying recipe...looks like a pretty standard brownie recipe...lets see
I've not included the bread, so you can use your favourite or what ever you have to hand.
Great to have in freezer for a quick satisfying supper.
great use for left over cranberry sauce
A variation of http://www.coffeeandquinoa.com/2013/02/coc
Based on BBC good food
I don't remember where I originally found the recipe. This has become a summer staple. Serve with burgers for a cookout or toss with some leftover chicken for a summer evening supper.
Inspired by: http://naturallyella.com/2011/03/17/roaste
Adapted from: Largely I reduced the serving size...not much of an adaption I grant you...
I was inspired by :
BR>I made some changes to take the down the fat and calorie count.
This is a really clever recipe for chocolate brownies, which uses blended stewed prunes and contains no butter, so works out relatively low in fat and calories.
found at: http://www.waitrose.com/recipe/Squidgy_Cho
Inspired by Norma MacMillan's recipe published in Reader's Digest.
I've adapted the quantities to reduce calories and used techniques from Heston Blumenthal to maximise flavour.
Its a hearty meal with 100% of your daily Vit B12 requirements. This is a large recipe for a crowd or for batch freezing.
In total the recipe makes 500g of candied nuts; or 25 - 20g servings. Not a huge amount but a little somthing sweet and crunchy to go with coffee instead of a cookie over the holidays. Healthier for you too than cookies.
I was inspired by the epicurious recipe Black Pepper Amonds:
based on bedwards37883 recipe but using tuna instead of salmon. yum. I make them into balls and eat like falafel
Based on Charlie's Luxury Fish Pie
Submitted by: CHARLIEMORA. I've made a couple of changes to accommodate what I had and to increase the veg.
I think these might be a good substitute for fries.
By Madhur Jaffrey
This is the closest thing I've found to Dhansak from my local takeaway - minus all the ghee mind.
this can be used as a base for all sorts of veg. I like it with seafood too.

A low-fat quick casserole that's great on a cold day and easy to make for a crowd or just one. Freezes well too.
Vegan pastry...A little chewy rather than flaky, but makes pretty darn good pasties, calzones or pot pies. ...Just change the seasoning...And its fantastic on the calorie and nutrition count. I found the idea by Hidy_lady on:
Adapated from Gourmet magazine Sept 2009
I've made a few changes to Ms. Mier's recipe published on:
I've borrowed from 2 different recipes on two different websites:
ting.html - has what appears to be a wonderfully authentic Spanish empanada
While the pastry was insprired by hidy_lady at: http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/290/buttern
Instead of doing one family sized empanda like the spanish would, I've made 12 individual portions South American style to help me with portion control.
These will take some time so make them on the weekend for weekday lunches.
You can make both the pastry and filling a day ahead.
Inspired by perfectly4given's excellent recipe but using real sugar and eggs. I prefer to use whole foods.
Over ripe pears work well as a substitute for the applesauce and roasted butternut squash in place of pumpkin (this recipe is calculated with applesauce and pumpkin).
Based on a waitrose recipe but modified for lower calories and fat.
From: Inspired by but made it my own changed the pasta http://www.waitrose.com/recipe/Roasted_Tom
found at allrecipies.co.uk
Great way to use left over roast chicken for a summer supper.

BR>I've use homemade spinach lasagne noodles, so have not included the pasta in the nutiritional information for this recipe.
Great for lunches or as a simple summer supper. You could replace some of the basil for oregano and turn it into a greek delight.
adapted from Epicurious
The secret to this shepherd's pie’s filling is to choose big carrots so they don’t lose their texture when cooked. BBC good food
Waitrose 8 servings
Apparently a British classic, which tastes like honey. Just tried it myself for the very first time today. UKTV food. Makes 4 cups for 64 1-tbsp servings.
A cooking.com French classic recipie with a few changes. While the crust is delicious, I can never manage to handle it so have taken to just pressing it into the pie form for the base and crumbling it on the top.
French classic. A warm bacon vinegrette served over crispy greens. Pretty enough for a dinner party or great as a main with crusty bread for a summer supper.
quick desert, lovely served over yogurt or ice cream
excellent lunch salad
originally from ediets
epicurious suggests these for hors d'oevre. We marinate up several filets and serve with salad for dinner
I love this Salad for BBQ or Potlucks. We'll also use it with a Chicken breast to replace dinner. Great flavours.
Originally from epicurious, but I've changed several ingredients and insist that you use Glass noodles also known as bean thread vermicelli or Sai Fun for the GI benefits.
Use a ready made salsa to speed things up. Broccoli is a favoriate accomaniment with nice fresh bread for us with this meal.
Hears an idea to use left over butternut squash. Simply skip step one, if using left overs.
Use what ever you have on hand, fresh or frozen berries, apple, orange or cranberry juice. Quick and Simple
Make ahead and freeze for quick suppers.
