More About SKITTLESINSOCKS
Recipes I've Shared:
Loosely based on one from Once A Month Meals, but a bit healthier. Still pretty high in sodium. Could be better if one were to use homemade broth but I'm not that one...
Loosely based on the kind served in the Disney movie. Most recipes online call for bell peppers & I'm allergic, so I omit them.
Got this from a mushroom package at Kroger and modified it a bit for my family's taste. Even lil miss "I dun like mushrooms" ate it LOL
Stewed apples with cinnamon & sugar, oats & grape nuts make it like an apple crumble. Makes great yogurt topping.
Modified from http://cupcakesandkalechips.com/creamy-bal
ressing/ to make it simpler.
Makes a double batch.
Eh. Playing around. Turned out pretty good but might be worth remaking with a firmer variety of bean...
Also gives me inspiration for a sort of Tabouleh...
Just a nice low fat jar salad.
I STARTED with the recipe from BuildAMenu but they had it wrong... There was no way a full cup of quinoa, once cooked, could mix with 1 can of salmon.
Fresh tomatoes, onions, & olive oil stretch a commercial sauce to help reduce sodium.
Walmart used to sell a bag of chopped kale with balsamic bacon butter in 2 chunks included. After they quit carrying it I worked out a similar flavor.
Adapted from Ina Garten. Tastes WAY better with fresh broccoli florets, but fresh veggies don't keep well around here.
Lamb meatballs & veggies in a tangy sauce
REAL BEEF for under 400 calories? Yep.
An easy homemade Salisbury steak
Adapted from FoodNetwork. Myy version makes this wonderful side dish into a main course, making the high-calorie richness a little more worth it!
Minor interaction meal... Throw it in the crockpot around lunch, cook til dinner.
Perfect for stretching ground beef, this recipe can also be used to make some AWESOME burger patties.
A good soup for clearing up a stuffy head. Fairly healthy, lots of veggies, and a little spice to open you up.
A simple chili, made entirely from scratch, with no bell peppers.
