This is a take on a comfort food with a healthy twist.

Lizzie's Jicama Latkes

I developed this recipe (and others) for friends who celebrate Chanuka. The oil is am important symbol of the celebration which celebrates when one day's worth oil for the lamps in the temple lasted eight. Fried foods are a big part of Chanukah. Don't skimp on the oul listed. I have reduced it considerably from traditional recipes. You can add more or less onion depending on your tastes.

Lizzie's Watercress Soup with Barley and Chicken

. This soup is good with a delicate flavor. It would also work well with chopped kale. I went to a class on making soup years ago. The chef taught us to put grains and greens in the bowl and add hot soup to avoid mushy grains and greens.

Lizzie's Breakfast Bread Pudding

I made up this recipe to have a filling and warm breakfast that was a change of pace.

Lemon Basil frozen Yogurt

Adapted from a recipe from Taste of Home

Honey Curry Almonds

This is a recipe I developed after tasting it at the local farmer's market at a stand selling honey and honey products. Since I am diabetic, I developed this using an imitation honey. The only porblem is controling how much I eat!

Kalamata Olive Bread with Oregano

This is a recipe I adapted from one I found in Cooking Light.

Sweet Potato Gnocchi

This recipe is an adaptation of a recipe I saw in the Today Show. It is easy and tasty. It is also not expensive to make. The servings are generous. The small amount of salt really intensifies the flavor.

Baba Ghanoush with White Beans
