Dana Carpender's egg nog recipe for raw eggs (I use pasteurized). She has another recipe that involves cooking them. Basically, the only low carb eggnog recipe on this site that I could find requires separating the eggs and whipping the whites. This one doesn't. What can I say? I'm lazy that way.
Low Carb, wheat free crackers from Dana Carpender's 1001 Low Carb Recipes.
From Dana Carpender's 1001 Low Carb Recipes. She writes her bread recipes on the assumption that people have a bread machine. I've always hand kneaded my breads, so I'm fiddling with the rising time here. We'll see how many tries it takes me to get it right.
This is adapted from the first (I think) Hungry Girl book. Although there are other recipes for squash fries in the Sparkrecipes database, I like the level of detail that Ms. Lillien provides. I did, however, adjust the serving size because I don't think I can eat 10 ounces of fries in one sitting.
This is an attempt to adapt a home made sports drink recipe I found online for a low carb diet. Basically by substituting Splenda for sugar, I add sweetness to cover the taste of the salts while drastically reducing the number of carbs.
I adapted this recipe from Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Cooker Cookbook to accommodate my food preferences and to reduce the carbs. In fact, just replacing potatoes with turnips cuts the carbs in half. Please note that the nut meal is mostly to ensure even distribution of the seasonings. While it can be used to thicken sauces (per Rick Bayless' book on Mexican cuisine), I haven't prepped it properly for that purpose.
A fairly basic stew for cold winter nights. Prepared in a large slow cooker
Corn muffins made on the George Foreman Grill with modifications from the original recipe. I think they have a different idea from mine of what measuring batter with a tablespoon means. The only way I can see to get even close to 16 muffins (which more closely resemble biscuits) is to level the batter in the tablespoon. Ever tried that with a sticky batter?
A grilled chicken recipe for the G5 Foreman grill. Might be possible to cook in a covered skillet.
I've modified this recipe from an old set of recipe cards to suit my tastes, removing some in ingredients that I don't care for, and adding garlic, because everything's better with garlic.
I found this recipe on the main SparkPeople site under "Food Focus: Garlic," but it wasn't on SparkRecipes. That seemed silly, and besides, it's from a government source, so I figured I 'd add it to the database.
Roasted garlic enhances this smooth, delicious sauce!
