This is a delicious basic granola which can be tweaked as desired with different dried fruits, nuts and flavorings. Try maple syrup instead of honey or Almond extract instead of the vanilla. Dried cherries or cranberries are also delicious.
Quick and delicious weeknight dinner using ingredients you likely already have on hand.
This is a great side dish with veggies included. The curry flavor is not overpowering.
This is a copycat of my Grandmother's Tomato Relish. Her recipe called for 2 pots of tomatoes; 1 pot of apples and 1/2 pot of onions. So it always begged the question - what size pot did she use? I have re-created (tested and approved) her recipe with quantities we can actually measure. This is a mild and slightly sweet relish/chutney that goes great on mashed potatoes and meatloaf.
Recipe in progress. I think it needs some coconut milk.
Quick to make and tasty.
This delicious dressing takes a little time to make but is absolutely worth it! Miles better than anything store bought and only 62 calories per Tablespoon. Yum.
Classic Greek Salad
Nice summer side dish.
Can be braised on the stove top, in the oven or placed in a slow cooker.
Great on roasted pork tenderloin.
Delicious Dip or dressing
Mostly veg but just a little ham for flavour.
This recipe can be changed in a 100 ways. I've added it only so I can track how many calories are in today's version.
My heart was set on black bean soup but I realized my black beans were actually black beluga lentils. I added 2 19 oz cans of black beans close to the end of cooking and it actually turned out pretty good.
I used up some left over pot roast beef and whatever veg I could find in the fridge. Turned out pretty good, I'll freeze servings and take it for lunch.
This is a mixture of Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal, which I find too sweet (and higher cal), and Kashi 7 Grain Puffed cereal, which has no sugar added and reminds me of the big bags of puffed wheat and rice my Mom used to buy when I was a kid. Loved that stuff! Mixed together you get all the flavor without the need to add any sugar.
Lazy way to get the taste of cabbage rolls.
This is so good you will lick the bowl and it's thick enough and lo cal enough to use as a dip. Makes 2 c or 24 1-T servings at 28.6 cals per serving.
Calorie calculations are based on 1 jar of Patak's Madras Cooking sauce.
This is real food made from scratch and using the best quality ingredients available. It takes some time but is well worth it.
These turned out really good. I used Dempsters, Ancient Grains Tortillas for the extra fibre. If using other toritllas adjust recipe accordingly.
This is a nice change from split pea soup.
Absolutely delicious salad that can be served alongside any main dish or just add saute'd chicken or prawns for a fabulous meal. The calorie calculation is for the dressing only but I have given the ingredients for the rest of the salad so you know what is in it and you can calculate your calories depending on how much you would like to eat.
I've taken the main ingredients of cabbage rolls and turned them into a thick and filling soup.
Nice thick and chunky soup.
Not your "classic" dressing but it is very good. Quick and easy to make it definitely beats store bought.
I started out making lentil soup but I had a couple of chicken breasts out and I didn't want to cook two meals. Voila, Chicken Minestrone - not exactly Italian but very good none the less.
Real comfort food for days when you just can't look at another salad.
Nice rice side dish - just for a change.
Using solid white tuna 120 g tin - makes 3 sandwiches at 156.0 cal each.
This is a quick and easy recipe to make when you get home from work.
