Challah bread with honey

This Challah Bread is a HUGE family favorite - I've made Challah from a handful of recipes. Overall, they are very similar, but this one is our favorite so far!

(This recipe is from - website address makes 2 loaves. I have halved this is to allow for a "one loaf" recipe.)

Meatloaf by Jen

I omitted the saltines which are high in fat and calories. I used oats instead to soak up the moisture and hold the loaf together. The idea for oats came from an old recipe from a great aunt.

Blueberry Muffins by Jen - Heart Healthy

This is a "lowered fat" recipe using applesauce in place of the oil. ALSO: I've used ground flax seed ("Golden") to include the heart healthy Omega-3's that we need. ( Fat count may not appear to be much lower because of the Flax Seed. )

Baking Powder Biscuits with Flax by Jen

Non-hydrogenated Shortening & Ground Flax helps to add some nutrition to these old fashioned favorites - measure Flax VERY loosely. The fat may seem high but some comes from the healthy Omega 3 oil in the flax, which is also high in protein.

M&M Oatmeal Brownie Gems

A family favorite - had to add for the nutritional info so it's on hand because sometimes you just have to have them!

Madre Jen's Whole Grain Recipes
Recipes with no White or Wheat flours. Our family doesn't have suffer from gluten allergies, but if we eat for our blood type, wheat is on the "avoid" list. These recipes may include spelt which is a "subspecies" of wheat family and has gluten. For our blood type, spelt is a "neutral" item for us.
