A low-fat alternative to a traditional Alfredo sauce.
High in fiber, low in calories, filling and full of flavor!
Ingredients are give and take depending on taste and what's on hand. I rarely measure veggies, just tossing in however much I feel like adding.
I first thought this a strange combination when I saw this on the menu on an Alaskan Cruise. The head waiter told me to try it; that I wouldn't be dissapointed. True enough, it was amazing! The cruise ship didn't have the recipe in their cookbook, but I found a similar one easily enough online. This is now one of my family's favorites.
Stopping in at a deli in a high-end grocery store, I was hungry for lunch and enticed by the smells coming from the soup and salad bar. This soup was new for me, and beyond delicious so I ran right home and looked up the recipe to try my hand at it!
I use to say that I wasn't a fan of curry...but I am finding that after starting Spark People, that trying new foods can be fun...and that even curry is delicious!
A delicious, lightened up version of the ever-popular Chinese take-out dish. Serve with steamed rice (not calculated into recipe).
Recipe from Good Housekeeping Favorite Recipes "Easy Skillet Meals" Delicious One-Dish Cooking cookbook.
Excellent flavor! The kids and hubbs all liked it. It was much more flavorful (but not overpowering) and fresh tasting than take-out. Everyone gave this a big thumbs up.
This is from Good Housekeeping's Favorite Recipes "Easy Skillet Meals" cookbook.
This has become a huge spring/summertime hit in my house; taking advantage of delicious, fresh Copper River or Chinook (Pacific) Salmon.
The fresh ginger is amazing! It is worth hunting down at the grocery store! It is excellent served over brown rice.
I found this on allrecipes.com. Very easy to make with either quick-rise yeast or regular yeast. Great flavor, excellent with Exquisite Pizza Sauce (found on both allrecipes.com, and on sparkrecipes.com).
Found on http://www.eatingclubvancouver.com.
I had dinner out at a restaurant tonight and I ordered this dish. This recipe looks to be the closest to what I ordered. It was delicious!
Found on allrecipes.com.
I made this for a Mothers of Preschoolers retreat and it was the hit of the weekend! I had never made a baked cheesecake before, and this was actually very easy to make; and everyone wanted the recipe.
This is one of my family's favorites. It smells great when its cooking, and it always disappears quickly at dinner!
This is adapted from "Holly Clegg's Trim & Terrific Freezer Friendly Meals" cookbook.
A trip to the Puyallup Fair (The Western Washington Fair) isn't complete without this Northwest tradition! They sell like 80,000 of these a day, topped with a big glob of raspberry jam. They are good cold, but best when they are warm.
(And its pronounced "pew-ALLup").
These are NOT low in calories!! I had to make them for my sons schools Mothers Day Tea (of course I sampled one while there) so I needed to calculate out the recipe. They are super delicous though, eat lots of veggies the rest of the day to make up for it! LOL
This is my great-grandpas recipe. He was a baker in England before immigrating to the US in 1913, where he opened 3 bakeries.
This chili is made from Carroll Shelby's Original Texas Brand Chili Kit.

Easy to make, and you probably have all the ingredients on hand already. My mom use to make this in our family restaurant; it always sold out quickly!
My son's most favorite treat ever. Blueberries, OJ, ice cubes and vanilla yogurt. Quick and healthy!
This one meal dish of chicken and broccoli in a quick sauce is really good over pasta or rice.
I found this recipe in Holly Clegg Trim & Terrific Freezer Meals cookbook. The first time I made this, it was to stash away in the freezer, but it this smelled so good while it was cooking, I was tempted to just serve it for lunch! I was nervous about using so much onion and red pepper, but it cooks down nicely.
Tender, fluffy, and delicious! This bread is simple to make and mouth watering delicious. I have tried several all-whole-wheat recipes in the past only to end up with a heavy, dense bread. This recipe makes such a light and flavorful loaf that even my french-bread-only-husband liked it!
Not healthy, in any way...but my family, and most especially, my husbands favorite.
Our 3 year old twins love to bake, and this is one of their favorites because they get to sift, pour, mix ...and sample of course.
These are delicious, but hold one aside for yourself, and box the rest up and send them to your spouses office!
