I love the British breakfast item "beans on toast", but had a hard time finding baked beans without added sugar. So I made up my own version. ;)
These aren't as dark in color as regular baked beans, and they are somewhat milder (since they are designed to be eaten at breakfast). Feel free to double the first 5 ingredients or add your own spices.
Allspice is used liberally in Jamaican cooking, and goes great with bananas. This dish tastes like dessert, but has no added sugar!
If you feel that the portions are too small, you can double up, add a tiny scoop of dairy-free vanilla ice cream, or even serve over pancakes.
Feel free to experiment with cinnamon, nutmeg, or your favorite spices!
