Fast, easy, yummy and lo-cal. What more could anyone ask for. I used lemon cake mix too, then mixed the icing sugar with a few drops of lemon juice andand 2 drops of yellow colouring and painted the tops of the cookies with the thin icing I flattened them first too so thy were more like a cookie
plan to make these for an Easter "cookie walk" at church by incorporating colored sugars into the powdered sugar to give it a bit of a pastel tint,
These are very yummy! I used a triple fudge chocolate cake mix and holiday colored sugar sprinkles! I also tried a sugar free yellow cake mix which was good if you like splenda in baked goods! I too flatten the balls to make them more like a cookie. Plan to make the lemon as well.
I didn't have any confectioner sugar, so I used red and green sugar sparkles instead. They turned out very good and a little bit of color I will make them the same way next year. They were also VERY easy. One of my favorite cookies.
