Wacky Brownies - no oil or eggs

Ingredients
1 cup flour1/3 cup sugar1/3 cup baking cocoa powder1 tsp baking soda1/4 tsp salt1 cup water 1/3 cup applesauce2 Tbs vinegar1 tsp vanilla
Directions
Mix dry ingredients in med size bowl. Mix liquid ingredients in small container (I use a 2 cup glass measuring cup, measure & mix in one). Pour liquid into dry and mix with a FORK. It will be very foamy. Pour into an un-greased 10 inch microwaveable quiche pan. Microwave at 50% power (I use a 1100 watt oven) for 8 to 10 minutes watching very closely the last few minutes. Brownies are done when toothpick inserted near center comes out clean and edges pull away from the pan. Allow to cool a few minutes before cutting into 16 pieces.

    These were not good. They were chewy and had little to no taste. Where's the chocolate taste I wanted? We at two - one each, but had to have whipped cream (fat free) on top. That didn't even help. I threw them all away. - 2/11/08

    Not quite as sweet as I might have liked, but very tasty. Plus, you can't beat the ease and the quick, low-cal chocolate fix. Would probably be very good with some berries and low-cal whipped cream/cool whip. - 1/14/08
