Ingredients
3 cups of sliced, peeled, & cored apples (or peaches or pears) 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice 1/2 cup rolled oats 2 Tbsp + 2 tsp whole wheat flour 3 Tbsp brown sugar 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon dash teaspoon cloves 2 Tbsp butter, melted
Directions
Get out a small (one quart) casserole dish and oil it well. Place the prepared apples or peaches into the dish and sprinkle the lemon juice over them. Set them aside. In a medium sized bowl, combine the oatmeal, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and cloves. Add the butter. Stir the topping with a fork. After the oatmeal mixture is well mixed and crumbly, scatter it over the apples in the casserole. It will cover them thickly. Now put the casserole in the oven and bake it at 350° for about 30-40 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve hot with Homemade Whipped Topping. Serves 4.

Being from upstate NY Apple country - I am famous for my very delicious sugar and butter laden apple crisps - so I was skeptical that I would like a lightened up version. My whole family thought this was delicious! This will be regular fall rotation at my house. Thank you for sharing! - 10/13/19
