Split Pea and Ham Crock Pot Soup

Ingredients
1 (16oz) package of dried green split peas, rinsed2 cups diced ham with the fat carefully removed3 carrots peeled and sliced1 large onion diced4 ribs of celery and leaves2 tsps of minced garlic1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped1/2 tsp salt1 tsp pepper5.5 cups hot waterLayer ingredients in the crock pot in order. Pour water in. DO NOT STIR INGREDIENTS.Cover and cook for 4 - 5 hours on HIGH or 8 - 10 hours on low until peas are very soft.Stir and serve.
