No Bean Turkey Chili

1 tbsp olive oil 1 pound ground turkey 1 onion, chopped 5 garlic cloves, minced 2 cups low sodium chicken broth 1 (14.5 ounce) can canned tomatoes 1 (14.5 ounce) can canned tomatoes w/ diced chilies 2 carrots, diced 1 green pepper, diced 1-2 tbsp chili powder 1/2 tsp paprika 1/2 tsp dried oregano 1/2 tsp ground cayenne pepper 1/2 tsp ground cumin 1/2 tsp ground black pepper 1/4 tsp cinnamonOptional: 1 (16 ounce) can canned kidney beans - drained, rinsed, and mashed
1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add turkey, onions and garlic to the pot, and cook until turkey is no longer pink and onions are tender and clear - about 15 minutes.
2. Add remainder of ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 30 minutes.
3. To thicken, use hand blender on low until desired consistency (a few minutes).
4. Optional: Rinse kidney beans and add to pot to simmer for the last 10 minutes.
