Ingredients
12 small tart apples6 pints ale2 cups brown sugar2 tsp each ginger, cinnamon & nutmeg4 whole cloveszest of 2 lemons2 pints red wine
Directions
Peel & core apples and dry roast them in a slow oven until they almost burst.
Combine 1/3 of the ale with the sugar, spices, and lemon zest, Simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Add remaining ale & wine and heat through, but do not boil. Serve hot.
Put apples in bottom of large mug and pour mixture over the top.
Makes 12 servings
