6 bone-in end-cut pork chops (about 2.5 lbs)Salt & black pepper, to taste3 Tbsp vegetable oil2 onions, diced2 cloves garlic, minced.25 tsp dried sage.75 c quartered pitted dried plums.75 c orchard mix or mixed dried fruit, chopped3 cups unsweetened unfiltered apple juice1 bay leaf
1. Seson pork chops with salt & pepper. Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Sear pork on both sides to brown, cooking in batches, if necessary. Transfer to 5 quart Crock pot slow cooker
2. Add onions to hot skillet. Cook and stir over medium heat until softened. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more. Sprinkle sage over mixture. Add dried plums, mixed fruit and apple juice. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 3 minutes, scraping bottom and sides of pan to release browned bits. Ladle mixture over pork chops.
3. Add bay leaf. Cover; cook on LOW 3.5 to 4 hours, or until pork chops are tender. Remove bay leaf. Add salt and pepper, if desired. To serve, spoon fruit and cooking liquid over pork chops.
