Peppermint Holiday Cookies

Ingredients
1/4 c. shortening3/4 c. butter1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. brown sugar2 eggs1 1/2 t. vanilla2 3/4 c flour1 t. salt1/2 t. baking soda1/2 to 1 c. crushed candy canes (recipe is figured for 1 c)
Directions
Cream shortening and butter together with sugars. Add eggs, beating after each one. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Stir in crushed candy last.
Refrigerate for at least one hour or until firm.
Form into 30 balls.
Bake at 300 degrees for 20-25 minutes (ovens may vary)
