Bean and Barley soup

Ingredients
1/2 cup onions, chopped 2 stalks celery, chopped2 Carrots, chopped2 Tbsp Canola Oil1 cup pearled Barley1 cup white beans1/3 cup Tomato Paste8 cups water or vegetable broth1/4 tsp salt1/2 tsp pepper1/2 tsp basil1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
Directions
Saute vegetables in a large pot for a few minutes. Add water or broth and all other ingredients. Bring to a boil then simmer for an hour until barley is soft. Adjust seasoning to taste.
