chicken sausage/leek/lemon-ginger soup

1 lb chicken sausage2 leeks, chopped2T olive oil1 qt chicken broth1 qt water1 potato, small dice4-6 carrots (1 cup slciced)1 c kale, chopped2T better-than-bouillon vegetable basejuice of 1 lemon1T grated fresh ginger
cook chicken sausage, drain, set aside.
saute leeks in olive oil till translucent. Add all the rest of the ingredients (including the chicken sausage), bring to a boil, and simmer for an hour. (Ok to leave on low for longer.)
Serving Size: makes about 10 1-cup servings
