Granola

Ingredients
4.5 cups rolled oats1 cup sliced, blanched almonds1 cup untoasted sunflower seeds1/2 cup sesame seeds(beige kind)1/2 cup canola or peanut oil, plus extra for greasing tray1 cup honey1 T dark brown sugar1/4 tsp salt1 cup raisins
Directions
Put oats, almonds, sunflower seeds, and sesame seeds in large baking tray lined with foil.

Combine 1 cup water, 1/2 cup oil, the honey, sugar, and salt in a small pan and bring to simmer. Stir to mix and turn off the heat. Slowly pour this over the oats, nuts, and seeds, mixing and moistening thoroughly as you go. Spread granola out in try and place try in oven.

Bake 15 mins @ 350 degrees F.
Toss well.
Bake 45 mins @ 275 degrees F.
Toss every 10-15 mins.
Bake 30 mins @ 250 degrees F.
Toss every 10 mins.
Bake 20-30 mins @ 225 degrees F.
Toss every 10 mins til mixture appears dry.
Remove from oven.
Add raisins.
Toss occasionally til granola has cooled thoroughly.
Store in tightly closed jar.

    My kids and I really enjoyed making this. We cooked it in the crockpot on Med heat for 4 hours, stirring everytime we smelled it. It was easier to make in the crockpot with less of a chance of burning it. - 11/12/08
