Curried Rice With Raisins and Almonds

1 small onion, finely chopped1 clove garlic, finely chopped1 tablespoons canola oil2 1/2 teaspoons curry powder1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/8 teaspoon paprika2 pinches ground cloves1 cup long grain white rice1 cups chicken broth1 cup water1/8 cup currants1/4 cup slivered almondssalt to taste
1. Heat oil in pan to med high heat. Saute garlic and onions until tender
2. Combine rice, curry powder, cinnamon, paprika, and cloves in a bowl; stir to mix. Add spiced rice and onions.
3. Add water and chicken broth and bring to a boil. Cover and cook until rice is tender, 20 to 25 minutes.
4. Remove from heat and stir in currants and almonds.
