Made this tonight for my family. I suggest not using the jiffy cornbread mix. It adds calories. Next time I think I will try lower sodium chili and turkey franks instead of beef hot dogs. Ball Park makes turkey franks that have fewer calories and less sodium. - 10/12/11

I, too, made this with a packaged cornbread mix. My wife absolutely loved it!! She added mustard to her second helping (like Frito Pie) and liked it even more. Thanks for such a great, yet simple, recipe. - 3/27/08

I must have done something wrong, it wasn't a hit at our house. Everyone liked the idea but the cornmeal topping was everyone's complaint. If I try it again with the cornbread kit and see if it turns out better. - 7/11/08

It seems like you could cut a lot of cholesterol and fat using a fat-free cooking spray for the pan instead of oil. I may make this but I will use cornbread using 1/4 cup egg substitute (eggbeaters) and a box of cornbread mix, and maybe with turkey or black bean chili. Will post if it's any good! - 3/13/08
