Ingredients
2 cups uncooked Quaker Multi-Grain cereal1/2 cup dark raisins1/2 cup snipped (1 1/2 pieces) pitted prunes1/2 cup coarsely chopped whole natural (unblanched) almonds1/2 cup unsalted sunflower seeds1 1/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour2 tea ground cinnamon1 tea baking soda1/2 t salt1/2 cup vegetable oil2/3 cup packed brown sugar1 large egg1 cup unsweetened applesauce2 tea vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter a 13X9-inch baking pan.
Combine the cereal, rainins, prunes, almonds, sunflower seeds, flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, whisk the vegetable oil, brown sugar and egg until blended. Add the applesauce and vanilla; stir to blend. Add the dry ingredients and stir just until blended.
Spread the batter in the prepared pan. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until golden brown. Cook until lukewarm on a wire rack before cutting into bars.
These are good served warm from the oven.
NOTE: USE VEGETABLE OIL
