6.5 cup Pinto beans (2 lbs dry beans) 5 serving Great Value Thick Cut Bacon (2 slices), cut into 1 inch slices 2 tsp Garlic powder 1 tsp Cumin, ground 1 cup, chopped Onions, raw 2 tsp Salt 2 tsp Pepper, black 10 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap
Rinse and sort beans in a large pot. Add about 10 cups of cold water. Let stand overnight or at least 6 to 8 hours. Drain water and rinse beans.
Pour beans into crockpot. Add onions and about 10 cups of hot water.
Cook on high for one hour. Then cover and set on low and let cook 6-8 hours.
Remove lid and add garlic powder, cumin and pepper Taste before adding salt you may not need any additional salt. Remove one cup of beans from the slow cooker and mash. Add mashed beans back into slow cooker and mix well. Let cook forone additional hour to allow juice to thicken.
