2 T. vegetable oil1 medium onion, chopped4 cloves garlic, chopped¾-1 lb turkey smoked sausage, cut lengthwise & sliced crosswise1-¾ pounds cabbage (about ½ head) shredded2-3 potatoes, peeled & cut into ½ inch cubes4 cups of water2 cans chicken broth1 bay leaf1-½ t. dried thyme1 t. cumin1-½ t. salt
In the Instant Pot, heat the oil on Saute setting. Add the onions, garlic, and smoked sausage. Cook until sausage is browned, about 5 minutes.
Add potatoes, water, broth, bay leaf, thyme, and spices to the pot. Close the lid and select the Soup setting.
Remove the bay leaf from the soup before serving.
Makes 6 servings.
