Hurst's Navy Beans Recipe

1 bag (24 oz), Hurst's dry Navy Beans1.5 lbs (20 oz), Ham (of any sort), cubed 1 cup, chopped onions1 cup, diced celery 1 clove garlic, minced 1/2 tsp dry basil 2 tbsp unsalted butter 2 large (7-1/4" to 8-1/2" long) carrots, chopped
1. Place rinsed beans in a pot with 10 cups of water.
2. Bring to a rapid boil. Reduce heat, cover and continue boiling for 30 minutes.
3. While beans boil, saute onions, celery, garlic, carrots, and basil in the butter over medium heat for approximately 5 minutes. Set aside when done.
4. After boiling the beans for 30 minutes, add the cubed ham and sauteed ingredients to the beans and simmer an additional 30 minutes or more until beans are tender.
5. Salt and pepper to taste.
