We have made something like this for years. I always thought it was way more calories. I cooked my beef with a half of medium onion and used fiesta cheese for a kick. - 3/28/13

We use just 2 cans of cheddar cheese soup instead of the cream of celery.. comes out just the same.. - 2/11/13

I make this, but I add a can of veg-all, and instead of using cream of cheddar soup, I use two cans of cream of mushroom soup and sprinkle cheese on the top. - 1/25/11

Just tried this recipe for the first time tonight. The kids loved it and want it to be a regular around here. I lightly seasoned both the meat and the tater tots with some lawry's seasoned salt and topped it off with some sour cream. The hamburger was a little dry from cooking in the oven so long. - 12/6/10

One of my favorites here :o) I, too, use real cheese instead of the soup and I also sub cream of mushroom sometimes. - 12/22/09

I have made this for 30+ years, but I add a can of corn between the hamburger/tots and soup and two cans of cream of celery soup along with either canned cheese soup (nacho soup is good for some spice) or real cheese. We never get 8 servings though! - 5/22/16

This was very good. My kids actually ate it. I also used the shredded cheddar insteead the cheddar soup. It reminded me of sheppards pie - 2/25/09

I made this with turkey meat instead and shredded low fat cheddar instead of the cheddar soup and it was cheesy and amazing! Thanks! - 9/25/08
