Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

1 teaspoon baking soda½ cup sour milk, (use 1/2 teaspoon vinegar in fresh milk)2 cups flour¼ teaspoon salt113 grams butter, softened (1/2 cup)1 ¼ cups sugar2 eggs, beaten1 teaspoon vanilla1 cup mashed bananas, (4 or 5 bananas, very ripe)8 ounces chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 9x9 inch pan.
Put baking soda in sour milk.
Whisk flour and salt together in a medium bowl. Mix 1 or 2 tablespoons of the flour mixture with the chocolate chips and coat thoroughly.
Cream butter, add sugar, beat well. Add eggs, beat well. Add vanilla, beat well. Add mashed bananas.
Alternate adding dry and wet ingredients to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients, and beat well. Add chips. Bake about 40 minutes.
Makes 16 large pieces.
