Dairy-free hot chocolate

Ingredients
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder1/4 tsp ground Black pepper1/2 tsp ground Cinnamon1/4 tsp ground Clovesa dash of Cayenne pepper (optional)1/2 tsp vanilla extract1 1/2 cups of watersweetner of choice
Directions
Put all the dry ingredients into a suacepan or kettle. Add about a 1/4 cup of cold water and stir to make a paste. Add the rest of the water and stir to thin this paste.
Put the kettle on the stove and bring to a boil, while stirring. Simmer for about a minute, add the vanilla extract and sweeten to taste.
Serve hot.

    This was excellent! I really enjoyed how the spices mingled with each other and the added "heat" from both the cayenne and black pepper. I added 4 T. of sugar before spitting it with my daughter. - 3/18/15
