Slow Cooker Barley Beef Stroganoff

2 1/2 cups reduced sodium broth or water2/3 cup uncooked pearl barley (not quick cooking)6 oz mushrooms sliced1/2 t dried marjoram1/2 t black pepper1/2 pound 95% lean ground beef1/2 cup chopped celery1/2 cup minced green onion1/4 cup fat free half and halfminced fresh parsley (optional)
Place broth, barley, mushrooms, and pepper in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 - 7 hours.
Brown beef in large skillet over medium high heat 6 - 8 min; stirring to break up meat. Drain and discard fat. Add celery and green onions. Cook and stir 3 minutes.
Stir beef mixture and half and half into slow cooker mixture. Cover and cook on HIGH until beef is hot and vegetables are tender.
Garnish with parsley.
