Seafood Paella

Ingredients
1/2 lb. Italian sausage, sliced2 Tbsp. oil1 cup each onion and red pepper, chopped1 clove garlic, chopped1 Tbsp. chili powder2 cups brown, long grain rice4 1/2 cups chicken broth1 cup chopped tomatoes1 lb. shrimp in shell (16-20 per pound)2 cups frozen peas, uncooked
Directions
In a large deep skillet, brown sausage. Remove and drain on paper towels. Discard fat. Heat oil in the skillet. Add onion, pepper, garlic, and chili powder. Saute for 3 minutes. Add rice and stir until coated. Add sausage and broth; cover pan and simmer slowly for 15 minutes. (This recipe actually calls for white rice; I like to use brown-so it will need to cook longer than 15 minutes) Uncover pan, season with salt and pepper. Add the tomatoes, shrimp and peas. Cover the pan and cook 8-10 minutes until rice and shrimp are cooked.
