Fettucine with Prosciutto and Asparagus

Ingredients
3 c. asparagus, cut into 1-inch diagonal slices9 oz. pkg. fresh fettucine1 T. olive oil1 c. chopped onion2 t. bottled minced garlic1/2 c. chopped prosciutto (about 2 oz.)2 t. balsamic vinegar1/2 t. salt1/8 t. crushed red pepper1/8 t. black pepper1/4 c. (1 oz.) preshredded fresh Parmesan cheese
Directions
Cook asparagus and pasta in boiling water 3 min or until pasta is done. Drain in colander over a bowl, resrving 1/2 c. cooking liquid.

Wipe pan dry with a paper towel. heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, cook 2 min., stirring frequently. Add prosciutto, cook 2 min., stirring frequently. Stir in asparagus and pasta, reserved cooking liquid, vinegar, salt, red and black pepper, toss well. Sprinkle with cheese.
