Ingredients
Meatballs:1 lb hamburger1 tsp salt1/2 c. dry bread crumbs(I use 1 piece of whole wheat bread toasted and put into the food processor)1 egg2 Tbsp onion, minced1/4 c milk1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauceShape into meatballs and bake on cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 15 minutesSauce:1/2 cup brown sugar1 can pineapple chunks or tidbits with the juice1 Tbsp corn starch1 Tbsp soy sauce1/3 c vinegar1/2 cup green pepper, diced
Directions
Mix together meatball ingredients. Shape into meatballs and bake on cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

Make sauce in a large skillet, combining all ingredients except green pepper. Stirring constantly, heat to boiling. Turn down heat and add meatballs. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes, stir occasionally. Add green peppers at end and serve over rice.

Makes 6 servings.

(This is also just a great meatball recipe to serve with BBQ sauce or marinara sauce. If so bake for 25-30 minutes, turning once.)

It was really good! I didn't have canned pineapple, but I had a can of fruit cocktail, of which I added a cup. Very delicious! I also baked the meatballs for about 30 minutes, after 15 minutes I checked them, turned them over, and cooked an additional 15. I also simmered them for one hour. - 9/27/09

My husband said he would be happy if I made this once a week. Everyone seemed to enjoy. I added some shredded carrots to the sauce. - 9/25/09

I made this two days ago, and I thought it was very tasty. Somethng different, as most of us are used to sweet and sour pork or chicken. Also, fairly easy to make. I like the idea of baking the meatballs, and will use this method from now on if I wanna add them to spaghetti sauce. - 11/5/09

So good!! I made this recipe for my work potluck and everyone just loved them. I have had people ask me for the recipe. I ended up making extra sauce because I brought the meatballs to work in a crock pot to keep warm. Will be making these again!! - 12/11/09

I used 93% ground beef which brought the calories down quite a bit- 115 calories per serving instead of 200 for the ground beef. Also used half brown sugar and half splenda, and added another tbsp of corn starch to make the sauce a little thicker. Very good recipe! - 1/14/14

This is a great recipe. I have been making meatballs with basically this same recipe for years, but mine has always been high in fat. if you use splenda brown sugar, lo sodium soy, lean ground turky breast and 2%milk the calories and sodium are cut almost half. - 12/13/12

I used can of crushed pineapple and maybe there wasn't enough juice, but this turned out really dry for me. Had it over brown rice and had to smother the brown rice in Soy sauce so that it had flavor. I would not make this again. - 7/23/12

Delicious! I doubled the sauce and made this with frozen lean Italian meatballs from m&m meats. This was quick, and made for a delicious supper! Will definitely make again. - 1/25/11

Great recipe! Followed as written except I added 1/2 pound shredded carrots right before serving and left out the green peppers. Fabulous! My 12 year thought it was great too! - 1/12/11

Awesome recipe. I used ground turkey instead of beef. It would be great with chicken or pork as well. The sauce is fantastic. - 11/2/10

This is the same way I make my meatballs; however, I've never used worstershire sauce, this was a nice touch. The sweet and sour was AMAZING. I used fresh pineapple, white vinegar (it didn't specify), and flour instead of cornstarch. My husband absolutely loved this and the leftovers were great! - 10/14/10
