Directions
1 lb 93% lean ground beef-yeilds about 10 oz.4 14.5 oz cans diced peeled tomatoes8 oz tomato sauce2-4 cloves fresh garlic1 cup raw diced onion8 oz raw sliced mushrooms1 tbsp olive oil1 tsp dried basil1 tsp dried oregano
Sautee garlic, onion, and mushrooms in olive oil until onions are translucent, about 3 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside. Brown ground beef, then add mushroom and onion mixture back to the pan. You may wish to transfer this to a large sauce pan at this point unless your frying pan has deep sides. Puree 1 can of tomatoes in the blender and add to mixture. Add remaining 3 cans of tomotoes including juice. Mix all ingredients together and season with basil and oregano to taste. You may wish to add some granulated garlic to taste. Cover and simmer on low heat until well incorporated, about 1 hour. Stir occassionally.
Makes 7-8 1-cup servings at 3 WW points per serving depending on how long you simmer and reduce the sauce. Add points for pasta or squash as appropriate.
