Cabbage and White Bean Soup with Ham

2 Tbs olive oil3 cloves minced garlic6 fresh plum tomatoes, chopped1/2 small head cabbage1 quart water2 cups low-sodium chicken broth1 tsp dried rosemary1 1/4 tsp salt2 cups drained and rinsed canned white beans1/4 lb chopped ham
In a large pot, heat oil over moderately low heat. Add garlic and tomatoes and cook, stirring frequently, 5 minutes.
Add cabbage, water, broth, rosemary, and salt. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, partially covered, until cabbage is tender, about 20 minutes.
Stir in the beans and simmer until just warmed through, about 3 minutes. Ladle into bowls and sprinkle ham over the top.
