Ingredients

    Butter, salted, 1 1/2 tbsp
    Sour Cream, reduced fat, 6 tbsp
    Milk, 1%, 2/3 cp
    Egg, fresh, 1 large
    Chili powder, 1 tsp
    Salt, 1/2 tsp
    Salsa, 1 cup
    Garlic, 1 clove
    Onions 1/2 cup, chopped
    Water, tap, 1.5 cup
    Beans, red kidney, 1.5 cup
    Baking Powder, 2 tsp
    Granulated Sugar, 3 tsp
    Yellow Cornmeal, 3/4 cup
    Flour, white, 1 cup
    93% Lean Ground Beef, 1lb

Directions

Preheat oven to 400. Cook ground beef, onion and garlic until brown. Drain. Put back in pan add water, salsa and drained beans. Bring to a boil and reduced to med/high. Continue to simmer until it thickens slightly. Place in a casserole dish. In a bowl mix flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Add milk, melted butter and egg, stir. Spoon batter over beef mixture and spread evenly. Bake for 24 minutes until golden. Slice into 6 servings and top each with 1 tbsp of sour cream.

    But I did make Tony Chachere's version-I'm sure much more cals, but its good, looks like mush, but its food and my husband who is a total pick gobbled it up quick! I will make this version tonight, since I am on my health kick! - 11/14/07

    Incredible!
    This WAS very good. My husband, oldest son and youngest son loved it. My picky middle son wouldn't touch it, but that's n ot saying much. I added canned green chilies and used ground turkey. Yum! It was just zesty enough, and very filling. Thanks for sharing this. - 11/1/07
