Ingredients

    15 Roma Tomatoes (chopped)
    2 Small Onions (finely chopped)
    4.5 tsp minced garlic
3 Tbl Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Mrs. Dash (R) Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend, 4 Tbl (to taste)
    .5 tsp Cayenne Pepper
1 Can Hunts Tomato Paste - 100% Natural
1 pound 96% Lean Ground Beef

Tips

To make sure your Nutritional Info is accurate, make sure your Tomato Paste is "no salt added" with only 20 mg of sodium. Also, be sure to use the "salt free" Mrs. Dash seasoning blend!

Directions

Put crock pot on low.
Cover bottom with olive oil and put in the garlic and onion. Let them cook down a little while you chop the tomatoes.
Chop tomatoes (coarsely chopped is fine - they will break down a lot as they cook).
Dump in the tomatoes
Sprinkel with Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend, and .5 tsp Cayenne Pepper (optional)
Stir to incorporate all the ingredients.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
In the last hour, add 1 can of Hunts Tomato Paste and 1 pound of cooked/crumbled ground beef.

Serving Size: Makes approx. 8 1-cup servings

Being on the D.A.S.H. Diet I really appreciate this recipe. Add some whole grain or veggie pasta and I don't have to give up some of my favorite dishes. I did have to cut the Mrs. Dash seasoning in half and eliminate the cayenne pepper because it was too spicy for me (had my sinuses running). - 4/22/17
