Ingredients

    2 tomatoes
    1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
    1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
    8 fresh basil leaves
    black pepper - to taste
    12 slices (1/2 inch) of a long loaf of Italian bread

Directions

Mix all topping ingredients together. Spread evenly over each slice of bread. Toast until crisp at 375 deg. You can mix the topping ahead of time to blend flavor together.

    Works well with drained, canned diced tomatoes also. In the winter months it is hard to find tomatoes with any flavor. - 12/15/09

    This was really good. I made it for an appetizer when my friends brought pizza over. I only had dried basil but it worked well enough. I also added a bit of dehydrated minced onion. My friend and I loved it! I just served it more as a dip with crostini for simplicity. I didn't have to use the oven. - 12/14/13
