    Incredible!
This is awesome! I made this today - altho I adjusted the ingredients to match 3# of ground beef, as I had a 3# pkg to use up. I browned the beef first in order to drain the fat. Added all the ingredients to my slow cooker and cooked on high for 6 hours. Delicious and I now have 2 freezer meals. - 4/13/12

Awesome recipe. It's convenient to not have to soak the beans. And while you CAN put in the ground meat raw -- I prefer to use ground beef and brown it first so I can then eliminate the excess fat and grease. We used this for tacos, nachoes, and as a topper for tater tot. - 3/10/12

Does it really take 6-8 hours to heat up the taco meat? I want to make this for a party at work, but I was hoping to brown the meat at home, and then re-heat up this mixture for a few hours at work. Please let me know! - 7/15/11

Yes, is does take that long because the recipe takes dry beans. And even though the previous commenter said differently, this recipe DOES NOT require you to brown the meat ahead of time. You just throw every thing in, stir, and let it cook all day. At the end of the day, fluff with a fork.

This is a fabulous way to cook taco meat. People who are not crock pot savy should know it is best to brown the meat before. I also used the quick soak method on the bag of beans before starting the crock pot. Delicious! - 5/19/09
